PPL: DHL customer number for Packstation lockers

The pickup point widget asks for the DHL customer number when a customer picks a German DHL Packstation, so PPL accepts the parcel.

A DHL Packstation in Germany, reached through the PPL network, only accepts a parcel addressed with the recipient's DHL customer number (Postnummer). Until now you had to collect it yourself, or PPL refused the shipment.

When a customer picks a Packstation, the pickup point widget now shows a required DHL customer number field under the selected point. In Shopify Plus checkout the order can't be completed without a valid number. On the Thank-you and Order status page the Packstation is saved only after the customer enters the number and confirms the point.

The number is saved to the order and sent to PPL with the label. The setting is on by default and you can switch it off if you collect the number on your own.

What's included

  • Required field under a selected DHL Packstation: 6 to 10 digits, with a short help text
  • Shopify Plus checkout: checkout can't continue without a valid number
  • Thank-you and Order status page (List with Map): the Packstation is saved after Confirm pickup point; picking another point removes the number
  • Saved in the order attribute PickupPointCustomerId and sent to PPL on the label
  • The Banner selection page has no field: add the number to the order by hand
